Brittany Murphy Heart Attack

Actress Brittany Murphy has died, at the age of 32, from an apparent heart attack.  Celebrity gossip site TMZ originally broke the story.  Paramedics were called to the home of her husband Simon Monjack.  An emergency call was placed to the Los Angeles residence at around 8:00 a.m., and arriving paramedics found Murphy in the shower of the home going into full cardiac arrest.  Paramedics immediately started CPR once arriving on the scene, but Murphy was unresponsive.  She would be pronounced dead at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.  She was pronounced DOA upon her arrival at 10:03 a.m.  

As the reports go, the Brittany Murphy heart attack comes with fairly standard circumstances.  It is currently unknown if the cardiac arrest was attached to any type of specific drug use, and county coroners were already stating that they have found no sign of foul play or trauma to her.  They claim everything looks like a completely natural death.  Toxicology reports, however, have not been completed, and a toxicology report and autopsy report could take weeks to complete.  The county will be performing an autopsy on Murphy, against the wishes of her husband, Simon Monjack. 

Murphy had apparently been ill for several days over the weekend with flu-like symptoms, and had apparently been taking medication to help combat he sickness.  In addition to the apparent flu-like symptoms, Murphy's mother apparently told the responding paramedics that she was also a Type 2 diabetic.  While this has not been confirmed, certain combinations of drugs could have led to Brittany Murphy's heart attack.  The L.A. County coroner and those who are involved in the death investigation have been quoted in the press as saying natural deaths in young people are common, and her heart attack does not necessarily mean anything negative about the star.

The family and her husband are cooperating fully with the police investigators to help them determine the cause and nature of the death.  Multiple prescription bottle were found in the home by investigators, some for Monjack, some prescribed to Murphy, and other to her mother. 

Loss of a Young Star

Brittany Murphy will be missed greatly by fans and relatives.  She has had an interesting and quite successful life, staring in over 50 movies and television shows during her very impressive acting career.  She moved to Los Angeles at a young age to persue an acting career.  She was featured as a guest star in a number of popular TV shows, including Blossom, Boy Meets World, and other similar shows that would lead to her first major acting role in the short lived show Drexell's Class.  Her first major movie performance was in the 1995 Alicia Silverstone movie Clueless.  She quickly rose to fame following a string of successful movies, including performances in films like Girl Interrupted, 8 Mile, Sin City, Little Black Book, and television shows like King of the Hill.  She voiced the character Luanne Platter for 239 episodes of the show, according to IMDB. 

Her personal life has also been a common subject of discussion, having been engaged or romantically linked to a number of different film industry personalities, including Ashton Kutcher, whom she dated follow the production of their movie Just Married, talent manager Jeff Kwantinetx, and her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, whom she married in May 2007.

Murphy was scheduled to appear in or currently working on five different film projects, each of which now have an unknown fate.  She had apparently come back to the United States after parting ways with a project in Puerto Rico due to creative differences. 

In the years leading up to Brittany Murphy's heart attack, she had received a number of negative tabloid pieces implying or directly saying that she was involved in drug use.  Many would comment on her weight, which seemed to dip down lower and lower on a frequent basis, while other would claim that she was associated with cocaine use, along with other types of drugs.  Murphy would constantly deny these rumors whenever asked about her supposed drug use, and nothing was ever proven.

The Fate of Murphy

Current reports state that Murphy will have an autopsy performed on her Monday or Tuesday, even against the wishes of her husband Simon Monjack.  While heart attacks at such a young age are not unheard of, they do warrant investigation to determine the nature of the condition.  Ultimately, the county coroner has the final say on whether an autopsy would be performed or not, and it appears he is going forward with it. 

There has been no formal announcement from the famil regarding funeral plans and preparations, but they did issue a statement following the news the Brittany Murphy had passed asking for their privacy to be respected at this time, and that the sudden loss of their Brittany was a tragedy.  Many celebrities who have been professionally or romantically linked to the start have taken to social networking sights to show their reactions to the news, many showing disbelief at grief for the sudden loss of the star.
